Archer Animal Hospital is a full service animal hospital and will provide routine services, medical, surgical, and dental care as well as emergency care. Our Veterinarians are experienced in all types of conditions and treatments. Beyond first rate pet care, we make our clinic comfortable, kid-friendly, and a very calm environment so your pet can relax in the waiting room and look forward to meeting his or her own veterinarian.

Canine Influenza (CI or dog flu) is caused by the canine influenza virus (CIV), and influenza A Virus. It is highly contagious & easily spreed from infected dogs to other dogs by direct contact, nasal secretions (through barking, coughing or sneezing), contaminated objects (Kennel surfaces, food, water bowls, collars & leashes) and by people moving between infected & uninfected dogs. Dogs of any breed, age, sex, or health status are at risk of infection when exposed to the virus.

Meet Our Team

  • Dr.

    After graduating from The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1975, Dr. Jack Sameck served as a captain with the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps before returning home to Florida. Subsequently, he worked as a veterinary associate in the Gainesville area before purchasing Gainesville Animal Hospital in 1982. In 2005, Dr. Sameck aquired Archer Animal Hospital which was founded by Dr. Michael Harbin in 1986.

  • DR.

    Dr. Fleming is from Fox Lake, IL. She moved to Florida with her family in 2001, where she graduated high school and went on to attend the University of Florida in 2004. Dr. Fleming is a triple gator, graduating with her bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degree from the University of Florida. Professionally, her interests include surgery and emergency medicine. In her free time, she enjoys almost anything outdoors and spending time with her husband, Josh their daughter Jordan and her dog Patches. Dr. Fleming works primarily at the Archer location.

    Dr. Axiak is a 2011 graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical studies at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation she completed a lameness and surgery internship at the University of Florida and then she completed a second internship focused on diagnostic imaging. She also serves as a Veterinary Officer for the U.S. Army Reserves.

    Her professional interests include preventative care, dentistry and diagnostic imaging. When she is not caring for animals she enjoys running with her dog Marvin, spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors. Dr. Axiak joined the Gainesville Animal Hospital team in 2017 and works primarily at the Archer location.
